Background and Distinctive Competence
Since 1987, Goldsmith has developed communications strategies and materials dealing
with subjects ranging from strategic business issues to health care to classical music.
She develops a thorough understanding of the objectives, audience, and possible
obstacles to successful communication. She then distills the critical elements of a
subject and explains implications in clear, human terms – in the appropriate medium.
She is frequently asked to "translate" from one discipline to another or from one
medium to another: to convey medical information to laypeople, for example, or to
convert print materials for use on the Web. Her education includes an MBA from the
Carlson Executive MBA program at the University of Minnesota.
Business Experience
– Before going independent, Goldsmith held positions in marketing, sales, and sales management:
• Vice President, Health & Science Communications, Minneapolis, MN
• Director of Marketing, American Public Radio (now Public Radio International), St. Paul, MN
• Market Development Manager, Interactive Technology Group, Wilson Learning Corporation, Eden Prairie, MN
